The HSE National Ambulance Service Paramedic Research Department is committed to enhancing pre-hospital care through rigorous research and evidence-based practices. Our researchers, paramedics, and other NAS staff investigate critical areas including:

  • Pre-hospital interventions: Developing and evaluating new treatments and procedures to improve patient outcomes.
  • Emergency medical systems: Optimising ambulance response outcomes, resource allocation, and system performance.
  • Patient care quality: Identifying opportunities to enhance the quality of care provided by paramedics in the field.
  • Paramedic education and training: Developing innovative training programs to equip paramedics with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.

Our Vision: To be a global leader in pre-hospital research, driving advancements that improve the lives of patients and communities across Ireland and further afield.

Our Mission: To conduct high-quality research that informs evidence-based practice, improves patient care, and supports the continuing development and provision of a world-class paramedic service.
