Emergency Response Times

The National Ambulance Service currently reports on Response Times (Key Performance Indicators) on an Area basis each month.

However, it should also be recognised that sole reliance on response times is restrictive and a poor reflection of ambulance service work. Most jurisdictions are now preparing to transition to clinical outcome indicators in conjunction with KPI’s as a true reflection of the work of a modern ambulance service. For Ireland, this will mean developing a robust suite of clinical outcome KPI’s.  We are committed to developing clinical outcome indicators to facilitate the gradual transition from response times KPI’s only, as this will more effectively measure the overall outcome for patients.
